Do you feel like you don’t have time for anything anymore?
Does every area of your life always feel rushed?
Even if you do stop your head doesn’t. It continues to race with hundreds of thoughts.
Life is busy.
But if you are honest with yourself are you using this busyness an excuse not to do the things that you really want to do?
“I haven’t got the time to exercise, I haven’t got the time to read, I haven’t got the time to look after myself”
I remember watching a webinar where the lady reminded us that we all have the same 24 hours in the day, and that even if we slept for 8 hours and worked for 8 hours we are still left with 8 hours!
What are you doing with your remaining 8 hours?
A few years ago I tracked how I was spending my time for 3 days – I wrote on a chart what I was doing all day from 7am until 10pm.
Wow! That was an eye- opener!
In just 3 days I could see just how much time I was wasting. It was easy to make some simple changes to prioritise the more important things in life.
You are the most important person in your life
We are all extremely good at putting ourselves at the bottom of the pile, we feel guilty for looking after ourselves.
We looking after everyone else’s needs all the time and then wonder why we are feeling run down and overwhelmed.
That needs to stop right now.
What would you love to make more time for each week?
Which less meaningful activities could you stop to free up some time?
I haven’t had a T.V for over a year now. A lot of people have found this decision ‘strange’ and ask me what I do with my time?
My reply, “I do the things that everyone else tells me they don’t have the time to do”
How much time are you spending each day watching T.V?
How much time are you spending each day on social media?
I deleted Facebook from my phone 3 months ago and it has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. I was wasting so much time checking notifications and before I knew it another hour had passed and I’d be watching a random cat video!
I now log on 3 times a day from my laptop.
Give yourself permission to look after yourself first.
If you put yourself at the top of the list everyone else around you will benefit.
You will immediately begin to feel calmer, more confident and in control. This will ripple into every area in your life.
Ironically, I had to find some time to write this blog (it’s currently 6.45pm) as I’ve had a crazy day of writing, editing and a celebration assembly at my son’s school. I have also had a Skype call, and I have 2 more appointments this evening.
I knew today was going to be busy so I decided to go for a relaxing walk first thing this morning and I also cooked the roast potatoes for our dinner at lunch time!
This might seem random but I am always asking myself, what can I do to make more time for the important things and how can I help my head to stay clear?
How can I be the best mum I want to be and the best business owner I want to be if I can’t find some time each day to look after myself?
What will you choose to do differently so that you have got the time for the things in life that really matter?
I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
P.S Just for the record , reheated roast potatoes still taste good!
